The witness of the lives of the saints encourages us on our early pilgrimage. They walked where we walked and experienced the same struggles that we do. They have run the race, fought the good fight, and now they live forever with Jesus. While we may face different challenges in our modern culture, they inspire us to practise ordinary and extraordinary virtue in every situation.
At St Peter Chanel, we are inspired by the heroic witness of our patron, St Peter Chanel, the proto-martyr and patron of Oceania. His zealous missionary activity reached its climax after his death when the seeds of faith he had sown brought forth the conversion of many people on the island of Futuna.
As a school originally founded by the Josephite Sisters, St Mary of the Cross, Australia’s first saint, is another patron of our school. She reminds us that “we are but travellers here” and that our earthly journey is preparing us for our real home in heaven.
In addition, each year level, each sport house, and each space at our school is dedicated to a particular saint who watches over and inspire our work of the day:
