Principal’s Message

Welcome to St Peter Chanel Catholic Primary School Regents Park, an enthusiastic, friendly and caring community. Our school is blessed with students and staff from many different cultural backgrounds and there is a strong sense of partnership between school staff, parents and the parish. We value relationships and develop strong partnerships with the parents and students by being available and approachable. We genuinely strive to value our children as individuals – each with their own unique personalities. Our Catholic beliefs and values permeate our school, and celebrations and liturgies are an important part of our culture.

We have much to offer here at St Peter Chanel. Our curriculum is well-balanced with high quality teaching/learning programs in Key Learning Areas and Religious Education. We also provide a range of specialist programs and services to meet individual needs. Our teachers are professional, highly qualified and extremely dedicated with the interests of the children at heart.

So, are we proud of our school? YES! We are proud of our tradition, our rich cultural diversity and of course, our children. St Peter Chanel School is an exciting place to be!

Kind regards,

Phil Townsend

St Peter Chanel Catholic Primary School Regents Park was established by the Sisters of St Joseph in 1925 with an enrolment of 64 students. In 1989, the Josephite Sisters ended their leadership of the school and the Catholic Education Office appointed the first lay principal. In 1989, the school became co-educational from Kindergarten to Year 6. Today, we are a vibrant and multicultural school with a  student population of over 400.

Our school is fortunate to be inspired by two saints, St Peter Chanel and St Mary of the Cross MacKillop. The charisms of these saints enrich our school community and impel us to make a difference in the lives of others.

  • Individuality – sharing, celebrating and appreciating our similarities and differences because we are created in God’s image.
  • Nurturing partnerships – being a welcoming community where every person is nurtured in developing quality relationships with each other.
  • Generosity – being a community in which we model ourselves on Mary MacKillop who was humble and gave selflessly.
